About ECT in Schools : About Electronics in Schools

The Electronics in Schools Strategy along with CAD in Schools now forms part of the Digital Design & Technology Programme.  The role of the Digital D&T programme is to develop a coherent support programme for teachers involved with CAD/CAM and ECT which reflects the changing requirements of both the curriculum at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and the STEM Agenda.

The support is offered through:

  • Regional support centres
  • Training
  • Curriculum Frameworks

This website provides teachers with access to a dedicated training resource and in-depth support material, designed to help promote, teach and support Electronics, Communications and Technology (ECT) within the school curriculum.  Through this programme the aim is to continue to raise standards in electronics learning and teaching and positively influence school improvement by:

  • Engaging more pupils in learning about electronics and its applications
  • Transforming teacher expertise, and by definition pupils’ learning by providing high quality post-graduate professional development, associated resources and the time to develop professional knowledge
  • Underpinning progression across and within the secondary curriculum
